Electronic Voter Registration
Code Digital System is an electronic voter registration system, using biometrics (finger prints, face recognition and iris scan). As a subcontractor to Code Inc., I was responsible for the business analysis, the technical architecture and part of the actual development of the software.
Flexibility, performance and usability were the main factors we needed to take into account when designing the software. It is targeted at nationwide registrations all over the world, so it had to be flexible enough to quickly adapt to the needs of a specific country. In most cases, it has to handle millions of registrations, each with photo and biometric data. Each registration should take as little time as possible, which is where the usability comes in. And finally all registrations must be cross-matched, first automatically and then manually. The slightest performance problem therefore could cause weeks of delay.
